Skincare-friendly Sports Do Exist

Skin care is a big issue for many people right now. There is increased pressure on everyone from the media and popular culture to have a blemish free complexion at all hours of the day, and retailers are making a fortune by marketing the latest and greatest products to help you achieve it. There is no doubt that there have been some fantastic developments recently with regard to skin care and beauty products, but some aspects of everyday life are not conducive to maintaining radiance, especially when people are expected to have great bodies at the same time.

Working up a sweat in the gym or down the park might give you a great looking body, but many people find that sports do not help their skin condition and can cause breakouts and dryness. Here are some top sports that will not only keep your body fit, but also your skin.

Surfing. Aside from the benefits of the sun (which is mentioned later), surfing can have some wonderful benefits on tired or blemished skin. Firstly the sea air opens up pores and helps detox the skin of any impurities that it picks up in more urban environments. Believe it or not, people used to take incredibly long journeys just to get the healing benefits of the sea air on their skin and in their lungs. Further more, you will naturally be exposing your skin to grains of sand and salt in the water, which both soften and exfoliate it perfectly. Who needs spa days when you have the ocean to look after you?

Golf. Among other things, stress is a major contributor to poor skin complexion. During high levels of anxiety, the body's hormones become imbalanced and pores tend to produce more natural oils than needed. This causes them to become blocked and leads bacteria to multiply and your skin to end up looking terrible. Many sports psychologists agree that low intensity and low pace sports such as golf are very good at reducing stress levels and thus alleviating the negative effects of stress on the skin. So if your skin is in need of some relaxation, your local golf course is the place to go.

Skiing. In moderate amounts, the sun's rays can have some amazing healing effects of the skin. It is even prescribed by some doctors to help with conditions such as acne and eczema. However, it is difficult to get the benefit of the sun without the heat and sweat that comes with it, and this causes other problems. Skiing and other winter sports allow you to get the most out of the sun by exposing it to safe levels of UV rays, but keeping the skin cool at the same time and free from sweat and grease.
