Single Parents Dating Online: Correcting Wrong Notions, "should Single Mums Stay Single?"

By:

Stereotypes are a part of this world, and in retrospect, are something that we should address and sometimes contend with. The world is full of labels that are sometimes wrong. In the online world, these stereotypes and labels still exist. And like the real world these labels are most of the time, wrong. Did you know that single parents dating online are one of the most stereotyped branch of online dating? Because single mums and single parents are also heavily stereotyped, these are carried out into single parents going for online dating. But are these stereotypes true? Most of the time, they are not.

For example, one of the biggest stereotypes is that "Single Mums Should Remain Single Forever." This is never more wrong, especially now in today's society.

In the medieval times, single mums were tabooed and cast out of society. A single parent, especially a mother, raising a child on her own would most likely spend the rest of her life single. However, in these modern times, single mums are respected because of their strength of character and will to raise their children on their own. They work hard to provide the best for their children, which is hard to do nowadays without a partner, considering the economy and the difficult times. But they do this anyway because of their concern and love for their kids.

Studies have shown that divorce between married couples has never been higher, and cases of single mums have never been more apparent. However this doesn't mean that they should or would stay single forever.

Some people think that single mums do not have the right nor the privilege to find the right man for her. This is the views of the narrow-minded or extremely traditional. Personally, this is one of the stereotypes that we could never understand because we feel that this is so off the mark and is a bit ridiculous. But yes, this stereotype exists, and it is up to you and single parents dating to prove them wrong.

The actual fact that single parents exist is already a point against this stereotype. Because if single parents SHOULD and WOULD remain single forever, then what's the point of making an online dating site dedicated to finding them partners, right? Some single mums and parents CHOOSE to remain single, yes, but that is their personal conviction to dedicate themselves to their children, and their choice does not reflect that of the rest of the population of single mums.
