Singapore's Growing Stature In World Business

Singapore has always been one of the most attractive destinations for companies and entrepreneurs from all over the world. For years Singapore has dominated the World Bank rankings in its annual Doing Business reports. Singapore is currently ranked as the easiest place on earth to do business and is also known for being one of the friendliest countries for entrepreneurs. However, of late Singapores stature in world business has been growing at leaps and bounds. As a matter of fact, many have started to feel that the country is now in a position to play a much larger role in world economic affairs and also must help other countries emulate its own success.

Singapore is one of the few countries that still have its AAA credit rating intact. Credit ratings have come into focus ever since the rating of the United States was reduced by Standard and Poors a couple of months ago. However, what is more significant is that now Singapore has moved to the number 2 position for being the worlds most competitive economy. In fact it is the only Asian country in the top 10 positions with Hong Kong coming in at position 11. The competitive economy rankings have clearly proven how well Singapore has been doing over the past years and are a testament to the immaculate planning and execution of policies by the Government of Singapore. Even though Singapore was considered just a tiny fishing village about half a century ago, today thanks to the vision and ability to plan for the future, Singapore has risen to become one of the most developed nations in the world. It also provides a business environment and infrastructure that is possibly unmatched anywhere else globally. Foreign entrepreneurs have been rushing to Singapore since many years now and every year about a few thousand foreign owned companies get incorporated in the country.

Singapore is also one of the founding members of the The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and is known for being one of the four tiger economies in Asia. This has helped the country to play an important role in the region and help other nations to grow and create viable economic policies. However, with Singapores growing stature in world business, many analysts believe that the time is perfect for Singapore to start playing a much larger role in not just entire Asia but in the world as well.
