If You have spent some time on the internet searching on how to lose weight, I would like to provide you with some tips that will most definitely get you started on losing weight before you even try, buy or start a weight loss program.

Right now so many people are suffering not only from self esteem and body image issues leading to depression. Also, people are aware that as a result of being overweight, is either already having an effect on their health or leading to health issues. You may already be in one of the above categories. You may have already tried so many different things. You may have already been on or heard of certain products. However, due to not knowing some simple things, I am going to share with you, you may have failed in the past. You may have lost motivation and although you have a weight loss suggestion in front of you because of fear of failure again you put it on the back burner.

My purpose here is to have you put yourself first and give you inspiration, desire, motivation and start giving you vision of light at the end of the tunnel.

I am 50yrs young, am going through menopause however, I initially lost 2 dress sizes, have kept it off and maintain keeping it off through menopause not to mention I have energy to burn. Also, I have not had any of the horrible menopause symptoms I hear and read about. With what I will reveal below, I do not think this is a matter of good luck, I believe it is a matter of keeping weight and health under control with some good basic nutrition for 10 years now and a little basic common sense.

There is nothing complex about weight loss. It's as simple as calories in calories out. This does include metabolism and some people say you really need to do exercise to increase the metabolism, this is true. It does come down to the 2 things, calories and exercise. Yet people turn off when the word 'exercise' is mentioned. I'm going to show you and turn your mind around with the word "exercise".

Most people don't exercise or turn their mind off exercise because immediately they think, "time for exercise" or exercise is a formal thing, here in lies the mistake. "Exercise" is merely "movement of the body". It is not a formal thing, valid only if you take 30 minutes of your day at the gym or running, or doing weights.

Let me explain, exercise can be as simple as, if you live in a 2 story house consciously remembering to run, or at least start by walking faster, up the stairs than you normally do now. Think about this for a moment, if you do live in a 2 story house, imagine the increased movement of the body, which will equal exercise and increased metabolism just moving faster up those stairs (something you do anyway). Have I started getting you thinking differently yet?

What if you do not have a 2 story house? Well, is there from one end of your house to another (ie bedroom to kitchen) that there is space? How about when going from one place to another (how many times do you do this in a day?), you move between these spaces faster. Again, just start moving faster to start, then perhaps add in a little trot. Do you know it is just a matter of how we think about things and becoming aware. It is amazing how much more we can increase our movement of body just along side what we already do in a day.

Another little tip I give people. Do you have a shower every day? Do you brush you teeth every day? Aren't these a daily habit? What about if you just stop for a moment before you brush your teeth, place your hands on the basin and do 10 push ups, that would only take a minute. Brush your teeth and repeat the same. There you go you have just done 20 push ups along side brushing your teeth and it only took an extra couple of minutes. Do this consistently and you will start to see a result in your arms. Again its body movement contributing to that thing called exercise and metabolism. While your in the bathroom the bath tub edge has a use to. Not even a minute before and after a shower to use the edge of the bath tub to do 10 bench sits.

It's all just awareness and understanding, every little bit helps and its all exercise. A minute here and there, if you make it as much a habit as brushing your teeth or taking a shower, results start to show. While your doing all these things in the bathroom, make a conscious effort to hold your tummy in so you're working your tummy as well. Strong abs and getting them is not just about sit ups. Hope this has shed light on exercise and has you starting to open your imagination.

Lets move onto calories. I wonder if you knew, if you just reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories a day to what you are eating now, you would lose about 1/2 to 1 kilo a week. This is absolutely true. Again, this is where people mentally fail before they even get started. They think they have to reduce all this food intake or completely change their diet. No, it means if you eat 2500 calories now, you just reduce by 500 calories a day. You are still eating 2000 calories a day and will lose weight. Now doesn't that sound more encouraging? Let's face it 2000 cals is still a lot of food.

Will you continue to lose, eating 2000 cals p/day? Well, there will come a time that the body does plateau at some point. When the plateau happens, this is the time you decrease another 500 calories per day. However, it is not going be as hard at this point as it would be if you tried to drop 1000 calories from the beginning. Your stomach will have shrunk, your habits will have changed and mentally it has not been a traumatic change, off course it is easier to go gradually like this.

To get started somewhere right now, the first thing you have to do, is start being aware of what and how many calories you're eating. Once you know this, you can start to see where you can cut back on 500 calories. Important to note, make sure you include drinks you have in a day as well. Full strength coke has hundreds of calories per can, diet coke has less than 20 odd. Switch from full strength to diet. People have opinions on "diet drink", at the end of the day water would be the best thing. However, having extra awareness to inspire you than before you read this, if diet drink helps you start losing weight and getting you balanced, you have a better chance of getting control and even progressing to water down the track.

Here is another tip. The best weight loss you can have is centimeter/clothes size reduction, greater than weight on scale reduction. This is the only measure that a weight loss program you are on is not only a very good programme but is also the healthiest for you and will keep your weight off. The reason is, you are losing body fat and NOT muscle. Fat weighs less than muscle, (to give you an idea, hold a plastic bottle of oil in one hand and a lean chunky steak in another and feel the difference in weight). Actually, you are losing correctly by knowing, 3kg fat loss equals 1 clothing size loss, you read it right it is not a misprint. I tell you this because the biggest sabotage of weight loss is not seeing results and giving up. You need to be informed so you know what to focus on. Throw out the scales, they tell you lies. Try on clothes and start seeing real, healthy, weight loss.

How now, do you ensure that you will be on a weight loss programme that will ensure you only lose body fat and not muscle? You've probably heard of getting a good balance of protein and nutrition in your diet. Protein is so good in your diet because it is a great appetite satisfier and it feeds muscle. The more muscle mass you have the better your metabolism, the better your metabolism the more fat you burn. You can clearly see "protein" is a must to a diet whether you need to lose weight or not.

However, how to get the protein benefit without eating too much fat and calories? and off course too much animal protein which can be heavy on your organs to digest, hence creating other problems? Science has now found that "pure" soy protein is the most efficiently digested protein that not only feeds muscle, but also is absorbed by the body and not left to be a burden on your organs. I know there has also been a lot of controversy over soy protein.

If you do just a little research, beyond what the media says. There certainly is "good" and "bad" soy. Question: How do you make sure you have good soy? The best way is to leave it up to the experts that do all the testing. These are scientists and doctors, which they recommend, and off course do your own research on the web. I will recommend some doctors and scientist to get you going on this subject.
Dr. David Heber (UCLA), Dr Louise Ignaro (nobel prize winner in medicine), Dr. Luigi Gratton. These are doctors behind products with "good" soy.

Looking at cost of programs? I will advise, there should be no cost involved. Yes, there may be a price on products/programme up front however, what do I mean by 'no cost' involved? Lets take at a 30 day program supplying 2 meals a day, working out at $8.50 per day for 2 meals, being $4.25 per meal. Let me show, you will actually save money while on a program like this. You would agree, food costs money? If you know where you can get food for free, please let me know immediately.

We talked about calories earlier. A 'big mac meal' from McDonald's being burger, fries and drink is approx. 1155 cals & approx.$7.00. Go with me, I want you to see how much money you are spending on food to keep you ovrweight. Whether you like McDonalds or not, eat it or not, it is a great example, if not this you are having something similar. If a big mac meal, or similar is all you ate in a day and you put nothing else in your mouth, as per the calorie information I gave you, you will lose weight. You would also only spend $7.00 a day, $49.00 dollars a week, not a lot of money on a food budget.

Here is the big question. Is this the only thing you are eating a day right now? Mathematically, for you to be overweight, you have to be eating more than this a day and eating more equals more money spent on food. Think about it, while using a programme which is replacing your existing food and is curbing your appetite, you are eating less, hence reducing money spent on food keeping you overweight.
