Does one ever notice how power small objects can be? Not only this, but what time of persona it exudes to the general public or society as a whole? When considering the occupational world it appears rather evident. But when one is placed in a real world situation, the reconsideration or further questioning does not come to realization.
An example of this can be either a doctor or superior scientist. When one briefly considers these professions, roughly 90% of the attire comes to mind, more specifically the
lab coats. The reasoning for this is due to the persona and sophistication this small article of clothing possesses. When one thinks of a lab coat, it is typically involved with a professional involved in either medicine or one of the sciences. The second notion that is brought forth is an individual of superior intelligence with large amounts of credibility. Thus, that one simple lab coat can put large amounts of faith and confidence into a single being.
Considering other professions, such as a construction worker, typically a hard hat or a belt with tools comes to mind. Once again, it is a simple addition to the individual that essentially distinguishes him or her from the majority. Or even when pondering about a baker, even in this profession a simple chef hat has a tendency of separating the individual from its subordinates or other members of society.
The point that is trying to be made is that in a fast moving and highly technological advance society, there are still instances where a small addition or change to someones attire can create a whole different view point on the individual. An example of this may be if someone was in need of an emergency and two men were in sight, one with a construction worker hard hat, the other a white medical lab coat. Our brains are trained to utilize small clues within the environment and conclude with deductive reasoning. After all, it does make more sense for the man wearing the doctors coat to be someone with more knowledge about how to handle an emergency situation versus someone with a hard hat. But what if it were an early Halloween festivity? Or perhaps for some odd reason these men thought it would be a great idea to trade hats and lab coats for the evening. Regardless of the what-if scenarios, the one thing that is certain is the training human brains undergo throughout the entire life journey.
Because uniforms or badges, or even hats have such high significances in our society, it is a federal offense to impersonate a police officer, or any member of a government affiliated profession. Imagine an individual pulled over for a routine check. What appears to be a normally dressed police officer could very well be an imposter. Though, this article is not to create paranoia and to question every individual within some type of profession. But it is recommended that in certain situations, and oddities arise, asking for credentials or some type of proof of profession identification is highly encouraged.
