Simple And Fast Art Supplies For Children

By:

Every child enjoys creating artwork, especially when their treasured work is displayed in picture frames through the entire home. However, because children love art so much, it can sometimes become a bit costly to keep them well supplied with art materials. The good news is that, with almost no cost, you are able to create a number of these art supplies on your own. Here are a few great supplies you may make for your own child, for little expense or effort.

Homemade Glue

Although glue is a reasonably inexpensive art material, there are still times when you run out. Homemade glue is an extremely easy recipe to create, since you merely need equal amounts of water and flour. Mix together inside a bowl, and pour into a jar that has a tight fitting lid. Or, put in a drop of food coloring before mixing, simply to give a fun color into the glue. Your child can apply the glue using a clean wooden stick or a small brush.

Easy Finger Paints

Finger painting can be a craft project that even the smallest child can handle. The most wonderful thing concerning finger paints is that almost any picture looks great when showcased in wood picture frames. The recipe for finger paints is really easy, as all you need to do is place in a saucepan a quarter of a cup of cornstarch and 2 cups of cold water. Then, heat until it boils and reaches the consistency of finger paint. Take it off of the heat and allow it to cool. Divide into several small jars with tight fitting lids. Now have a good time mixing food coloring into all the jars, to make some different colors.

Fruity Play Dough

This easy recipe is going to make a nicely sized batch of fun fruit scented play dough. Mix two cups of flour along with a package of unsweetened Kool-Aid mix and a half a cup of salt. Next incorporate two tablespoons of vegetable oil. Add two cups of boiling water, mixing well. Take care on this step if your child helps. Mix using a spoon, forming the dough. Make sure you store this play dough in a container that is air tight. This dough will smell good enough to nibble on, but you should remind your youngster not to do so. If your child produces a play dough sculpture that they're particularly proud of, take a few photos of it. Print some off and exhibit in picture frames as beautiful wall art. When this play dough is stored in airtight containers it will last for quite a while and will also be useful for many wonderful creations.

Easy Homemade Chalk

It's surprisingly simple to make your own colorful chalk. Take a little amount of powdered tempera paint and blend it with a cup of Plaster of Paris. Put in a half of a cup of cold water, and mix. Pour concoction into popsicle molds, candy molds, a waxed paper lined toilet tissue tube, or a small Dixie cup. As soon as the chalk dries you can take it out of the mold. Your child can use this chalk to create paper artwork, which you can then display in picture frames. Or, use chunky pieces of chalk to draw pictures on the sidewalk or driveway.

Now that you have some inexpensive and easy ideas for making your own art supplies, grab your favorite child and go have a good time! You'll both be so happy that you did!
