Signs Of Roof Damage - When To Call In An Overland Park Roofer

By:

How do you know when it's time to call in a Roofer or Roofing Contractor? Does your roof need repair or even replacement? A good roofer will be able to advise you as to what is required for your roof, but how do you know it might be time to consult a roofing professional?

There are a few signs to look for:

1. Leaks - obviously this is a key sign of trouble but it is worth checking your roof space periodically for early signs or leakage. During heavy rain for example check for leaking - don't wait until the signs appear in your roof space when some damage is likely already done.
2. Exterior signs of wear and tear - tree limbs rubbing on the roof, hail damage etc.
3. Color fade - this may be difficult to determine, but if sections of roof shingle appear faded this may be a sign they are old and worn.
4. Cracked or curling shingles can both allow water to penetrate at least the top layer of roofing material.
5. Blisters on walls/ceiling in your home may be the first sign or water damage. Check back up in the roof to see if there are signs of water entry. These may not be directly above where the damage appears.
6. Check for rotting/damaged or missing fascia and boards on your home. These may be signs of greater wear but also areas water can get in at the side of the roof.

If in any doubt call a roofer to provide you with a profressional opinion as to whether repair or replacement is needed. Make sure you take care to find and identify a contractor or company that you trust to advise you.
