Signs Of Implantation Bleeding

By:

There are women who know about implantation bleeding. But many of them are not aware of the all probable signs of implantation bleeding. These women only know that implantation bleeding is the pinkish or brownish discharge of blood occurring during pregnancy and just before a week of the next menstrual date. It is very important to know the signs of implantation bleeding so that you can distinguish it from the menstrual days.

The Process

Implantation signifies the connection of the embryo or the fertilized egg to the lining uterine walls. In this process, the egg reaches to the uterus inner lining that is known as endometrium so that it can establish an association with the blood vessels of the would-be mother. It does so to obtain oxygen as well as nutrients that are inevitable for the development. However, in some women, the connection process might induce some bleeding and this is nothing but implantation bleeding. Keeping this understanding in mind, there is no doubt that implantation bleeding is an indicator of pregnancy. However, if it does not occur, it does not signify that pregnancy is absent. We are stating this to make you aware that not each pregnant woman notices this bleeding.

The Signs

Unlike a regular period, the implantation bleeding is a scanty discharge taking place via the vagina. Further, its color is pink or brown as against the red flow of a normal cycle. Usually, there are hardly any signs of implantation bleeding, but many women might notice mild cramps in their lower belly along with a rise in the temperature of the basal body. While asleep or at rest, the temperature gained by the body is at its lowest.

For a pregnancy to be positive, these signs of implantation bleeding must be accompanied by the other signs of pregnancy such as fatigue, urination, nausea, vomiting, tender breasts, stomach bloating, and raised sensitivity to smells. However, if you feel pain during the implantation bleeding, it is not a good sign and so is better to visit a gynecologist. This is because this can be an indication of ectopic pregnancy that is a complex situation wherein the ovum is mistakenly implanted in ovary, fallopian tube, cervix, or stomach rather than in the wall of the uterus. A majority of the ectopic pregnancies take place in the fallopian tubes.

The Duration of the Signs

Implantation bleeding, that is scanty spotting, usually takes place prior to the known day of normal cycle. The average menstruation date is mostly considered as the 14th day after the ovulation date and that the implantation bleeding takes place somewhere during 6 to 12 days after fertilization. But, the menstrual cycle varies from one woman to other and so this 14th day calculation might not be the same for every woman. So, implantation bleeding tends to occur during the 3rd or 4th week after the last period. However, in some cases, the bleeding might be irregular making it last for some days instead of minutes or three days in regular cases.

Despite the fact that a few experts show skepticism towards the existence of implantation bleeding, the researches prove that around 33 percent of the women who are pregnant notice implantation bleeding and that it does not induce any kind of problem neither for the mother nor for the baby. Yes, its absence might put you into the state of worry. But, do not worry and go for the tests.
