Signs Of Flirting To Watch Out For

By:

Signs of Flirting are often the first indication that someone is attracted to you, either physically or romantically. The signs can be conveyed through body language, by what is said in conversation or even through slight physical contact.

The following signs of flirting are common nonverbal forms of communication that can help you understand more than just the words that are being spoken. No matter what the situation, whether you see an attractive person across a room, are on a first date, or are a married couple, these signs are:

Making eye contact and holding it for a significant amount of time if you're together and if you are looking across the room at someone, regular brief moments of eye contact can be signs of flirting. Sideways glances can be a strong sign of flirting when you are attracted to someone, especially when it can be difficult to meet their eyes.

Looking at parts of their body such as lips, jaw or other assets you may be sending a flirting signal. This may be an unconscious sign of flirting when you are attracted to someone, because unconsciously you can't help but check these out. Playing with your hair or flicking your hair can be a sign of flirting.

Open body language is the opposite of closed body language, which would be turning away, crossing arms or legs, or pulling back. Leaning towards the person can be a nonverbal sign of flirting that the person wants to be closer. Lightly touching someone's arm, knee or shoulder is a nonverbal signal that you are open and friendly and showing interest.

Laughing at someone's jokes, no matter how silly can be a sign that you're open to and interested in the person. Playing with jewellery such as earrings, necklace or hair can be a sign of flirting for women and fiddling with your tie or jingling the change in your pocket, can be a sign for men.

On a general note, if you are attracted to someone, be aware as to whether you are getting a response from them or whether the signs of flirting are one-sided. If you think that someone is flirting with you check whether they are showing just one sign of flirting or a combination of flirtatious actions.

It is also useful to note whether the person is showing a special interest in you or whether they treat most people in the same way as they treat you. If the latter, this may indicate that they may simply have a naturally flirtatious personality.

Pay attention to what the person is speaking about. Are they communicating a sense of playfulness or being suggestive? If they are, ask yourself whether what they are saying or doing is suggesting more intimacy than would be appropriate for the amount of time you have known each other.
