If your car is in the process of dieing, you will know from many signs. There are several things that will cause a battery to actually die, that you may want to keep in mind. Batteries that have reached it's lifespan, is of course one of the most common causes of a battery that is about to die. Most batteries actually will last anywhere between 3 to 5 years before they will need to be replaced.

There are many situations that you can avoid to keep from draining your battery, and needing some type of auto repair. If you leave your headlights or, or the lights in the inside on, this can actually drain your battery. These can all be avoided, if you just remember simple things like remembering to turn your headlights off, if you do not have automatic ones. Cables that are not connected the right way can cause your battery to die out. Improper charging methods, will also cause your battery to die sooner than you think. If you jump start another vehicle's battery while your battery is already weak, this will cause the battery to drain. You will need to keep these things in mind, so that you do not run across a dieing battery.

There are also many signs that you should look out for just before your battery begins to die. Sometimes there are signs that your car will give you, if you are lucky enough. Power windows and locks that move slowly is a good indication that your battery is draining. Your headlights that are not as bright as usual is another sign that your battery may be dieing. A keyless entry system will not work correctly if your battery is dieing either. Sometimes your only indication will be when you go to start the car up, and it doesn't start. This is one of the biggest signs that your car's battery is actually dead. Sometimes you will not need auto repair, it just depends on the cause of the dead battery.

Car batteries are very sensitive to a lot of things, so you should try to avoid things that will cause a problem. If you can prevent these, you should be okay, unless your car is just really really old. These are just some of the causes and signs to look out for to help you determine why and how your battery died. They can last you a while if you take care of them.
