Sightseeing In New York - Nyc Sightseeing

As you plan your visit to NYC, you want to make sure that you don't leave out any of the best sights to see there. Of course you will make visits to the best known of New York City sights like the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. But don't forget to check out some of the lesser known things that should be a part of sightseeing in New York. There is a huge amount of history in NYC that should never be overlooked. There is amazing architecture all over Manhattan that may be of interest to some visitors as well.

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine is the largest cathedral in the world. It is located at 112th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. Tours are available Tuesday through Saturday for a small fee. More involved tours that take visitors up the grand staircase happen only once monthly so you will need to plan ahead if you are interested in seeing more of the cathedral than is normally shown. The fee for this tour is a bit more but definitely worth it if you are into church architecture.

The Chrysler Building is one of the most historic buildings in New York City. It was completed in 1930 and was the tallest building in the world until the Empire State Building outdid it only a few months later. It was built as a tribute to the booing automotive industry in the US. It is still one of the finest office buildings in NYC today. There are no formal tours of the building but the lobby is open to visitors every day. There are many other buildings of historical and architectural importance in Manhattan. These don't have organized tours for sightseeing in New York either for the most part, but do welcome visitors to take a look at the public areas of the interiors.

For a bird's eye view of the city a great stop is Top of the Rock Observation Deck at the Rockefeller Center. It is one of the best views of the city from 70 stories up. There are unobstructed 360 degree views up there and many think that it is the best view there is in NYC. Sightseeing in New York is incomplete without a look out over the top of the city looking down on the buildings and tiny street below.
