Shove Over Paper Books Here Comes An Ereader

The time has come to really make an effort to minimise the use of wood chip pulp to make paper. We all know we are in a global environmental crisis and we all know we need to make an effort to save our forests. This is one thing we all can do very easily and can start today.

Some of you who are reading this will think I am being idealistic. Some of you will think that there is more to the environmental problems than the loss of forests. In both instances you could be right. But for this moment in time I am focusing on the culling of trees for wood chip pulp that becomes paper.

Technology is in almost every persons back pocket. Be it on the phone, electronic diary, tablet PC's or the laptops (if you have a big pocket). This technology has the ability to remove the need to use paper.

Paper has been the mainstay of creating books, magazines and newspapers for hundreds of years. We all use paper every day for our reading needs be it business or pleasure.

With the technology you use every day or with dedicated eReaders you now can all but relinquish your paper books, reports and newspapers.

Allow me to focus on one of the educated worlds most favourite pastimes - reading for pleasure. Since the inception of books reading has brought pleasure to millions and millions of people. Walk through any airport, train station, bus station, café or more and you will find people engrossed in a good book.

There are so many books world wide that many just get thrown away simply because their resale value is now non-existent. In comes the eReader. Reading on a dedicated eReader is economical, easy and smart.

eReaders com in a number of formats the best ones are not back lit making them easy on the eye and allow the reading experience to be exactly like that of the paper book. However you can read of a number of other devices utilising free eReader software and for many this is more than adequate.

Reading off electronic devices has seen a boom in reading. Frequent dedicated reading sites and you will find many converts speaking about how their love for reading has been re-ignited. They now can read anywhere, anyplace, any time and more over they can read what they want according to their mood as they can carry a library of books around in their back pocket.

Here is a list of advantages of reading your favourite books on a eReader device:

- minimisation of wood chipping for paper - increase your reading enjoyment by having a library of books to choose from any place any time
- hundreds of books are available on the Internet for free
- easy to use, that is no learning curve required
- faster access to books, that means no more visiting bookshops or libraries

There are some of you right now poo poohing the world of electronic books. I know you are there because I was just like you. You love the look and feel of a real book don't you that is why you are not so keen?

Here is how you get over that. Still visit bookshops and libraries. Touch and feel but, take your notepad with you. Write down the names of the books and authors you fancy so you can put them on your eReader at a later date. It works you get your dead tree book fix and know that you no longer contribute to the wood chipping industry.

Finally one more thing, there will always be a place for books as we have always known them. Some books need to be made from paper whether it is because of the general content or because they are a pictorial. So don't go thinking the dead tree book will see a demise. What will happen is a reinvention and mass market fiction will become electronic.

Doing your bit for the forests is not only easy but it is fun and elightening and you can start right now.
