Pregnancy is an experience which is of fear and excitement both. The woman who is pregnant for the first time goes through lots of new experiences. The entire pregnancy period is crucial for the woman and proper care needs to be taken for a healthy childbirth. The full pregnancy has a period of 40 weeks and it termination happens in about 15% of the pregnancies which is called miscarriage. Miscarriages have shattering effect on the physical and mental condition of a woman and it needs to be handled with enough care and love. There are hormonal changes inside the body of the woman who is pregnant and due to which certain symptoms are visible such especially during the first three months of the pregnancy which goes off in the subsequent months. The effects of pregnancy and labor experienced by the women in the first three months are-

1. Morning sickness
2. Nausea
3. Dizziness
4. Desire for some special food
5. Not willing to take some food
6. Abdominal pain or pain in the pelvic area or lower back area
7. The breasts become tender and sore

During the second and third trimester most of these symptoms go off naturally but the stomach looks enlarged as the embryo is growing and towards the end of the third trimester, the baby starts coming downwards.

One of the important effects of pregnancy and labor is the increase in the blood sugar level in the mother during pregnancy period which normally goes off with time after the child birth. Proper diet and exercises need to be done to control gestational diabetes and it should never be remained untreated. Obesity and age of the mother could affect the pregnancy and certain complications might arise during labor. If the mother is suffering from diseases like high blood pressure, heart problem, kidney problem, diabetes, thyroid etc. then special care has to be taken by the person.

To have healthy child birth, the pregnant women should strictly follow a healthy diet and exercises (with doctors advice) so that the muscles do not become stiff during pregnancy labor and the child birth can happen naturally. As the due date is near, the labor pain is experienced and there are various ways to handle this labor pain. Some do not prefer to use medicine others use techniques like relaxation methods or medicines to get relief from pain. From the day one till the child birth the woman experiences various affect of pregnancy and labor physically and mentally both.
