There are many things to do while vacationing in Albuquerque, but a place surely not to miss is the Open Space Visitor Center, which is located on the west side of Albuquerque. The center has an art gallery, 24 acres of agricultural fields, a stunning view of the Sandia Mountains, and a permanent exhibit space as well. The harvest festival after the summers is also entertaining. The Center has arranged activities for children as well by setting up puppet shows, origami, and coloring pages inside its building so that parents visiting with children can enjoy a tour even more. Albuquerque Vacations - Rio Grande Valley State Park

The Rio Grande Valley State Park was made in 1983, and is a massive park stretching from Sandia Pueblo in the north through Albuquerque and south to Isleta Pueblo. The park offers a lovely environment, with its large cottonwood trees, coyote willow, and New Mexico olive creating a cool forest. This provides habitats for beavers, numerous bird species, turtles, and snakes. Other than the marvelous view to enjoy, you can go hiking, bicycling, mountain biking, horseback riding or do in-line skating. Running along the east side of the river here is the Paseo del Bosque, which is the best for hiking, and also, there are natural trails on the land under the trees on can take. On the water, you can enjoy boating, kayaks, canoes, rafts and other non-motorized water vehicles. Some points of interest for visitors to see are: Rio Grande Open Space, Calabacillas, Arroyo, Shining River Parking Area, Rio Grande Nature Center, Peublo Montano Picnic Area and Trailhead, Rio Bravo Riverside Picnic Area, Fishing Pier and Nature Trail, Rio del Norte Picnic Area, and the Aldo Leopold Interpretive Trail and Forest. The state run park is a treat for all visitors and the river Rio Grande runs along it, making this site a piece of heaven in New Mexico.
