Selling Your Own Glassware Via Post

By:

You'll have seen all the adverts on TV and billboards recently asking us to gather up all our old pieces of gold and send them into gold-valuing companies for a nice cheque in return. Well the next material that is going to be high in demand is glassware believe it or not.

Due to the financial crash that has taken place over the last few years, many savvy businesses realised they could pick up gold for a much lower price that they could sell it on for down the line, as people were keen to quickly release funds they had tied up. Everything from jewellery to gold teeth and gold ornaments were asked for by these companies, who then melted it down and sold it as gold bullion. The basic principle was that you collect up all your gold, send it off in an envelope and receive a quote for your goods a couple of days later. If you were happy with the quote, they send you your cheque and keep the gold. If not, they send you the gold back free of charge.

This is a win-win situation as people get rid of old items they no longer want, and the gold businesses make money by putting a mark up on the gold. However, this process is not sustainable and before long the gold markets become saturated and the cost of gold starts to decrease quickly. Such companies most look else ware then for valuable materials, and along with silver and platinum, high quality glass is next on the list. Everything from old wine glasses and glass statues, to even windows and marbles are being bought up for one simple reason....melting old glass costs less than creating it from scratch.

Many glassmakers have realised that it is a lot easier and cheaper to melt glass down and remould it than source all the necessary minerals to create new glass. The cost of many of the minerals has increased dramatically since the recession began and suppliers have been able to charge increased amounts due to the steady demand they receive. Glass is one of those materials that will always be needed, both in the domestic and commercial sectors, so it makes perfect sense to stock up on reserves, which companies know they will be able to sell on. So the advice is to start looking in your cabinets for glass vases and the like, as they could be worth more than you think and you could free up some much needed funds.
