Some people in this trend call it a new-age Tupperware party because it is generally the same idea, you can supposedly leave these parties feeling a little richer than when you showed up.

First thing to ask yourself when selling your gold and jewelry is why these new gold buying companies in Toronto want your gold as well as why you would want to part with it at such a discounted rate. In the present day uncertain economic environment gold is becoming an increasingly popular commodity, but it is still very much under appreciated and to someone who is unwary, it is only seen as a cluttered mess that they can trade for something that is much more instantly gratifying. If gold is appreciating in terms of dollar value, why should you downgrade the value by handing it over to one of these gold buying companies that can sometimes make false claims of paying the top dollar? Of course I do not fault these people. Times are becoming increasingly hard for many, and money can be tight. The cash-giving companies have easily recognized these financial straights of many down-on-their-luck individuals, and set up shop to capitalize on the situation and to milk it as long as possible. An Unsuspecting person may pay a couple of their late bills, or have a nice night on the town with someone special, meanwhile the gold purchaser makes a huge spread on the deal.

You should pay attention to another signal. I am sure you have heard of the indicators of present failing economy. The housing bubble has burst, the trillions of dollars in bailout funds being given out, and the near-zero interest rates at the banks. Mainstream America is now lined with dozens of payday loan establishments, they are putting the squeeze on many of the surrounding retail establishments. These companies are in the business of selling money, and it is not cheap for the consumer. When annualized these pay-day loan companies rates can be upwards of 500% and they have more than enough customers. How do these companies relate to the economy? Money has been plentiful, and peoples appetite for it can be compared to a drug addict. But how many of these loans get paid back on time. Actually in many cases it is rolled over or defaulted on. It is like a micro view of how government spending works. The massive spending deficit has found its way into the hearts of the people.

What is the point? The government can only be as powerful as the power that the people give to it. This means that money will soon become as available as it ever has. More so the people will give the power to the government and the Federal Reserve to deal out more money. Which is what the problem is in the first place-cheap money. You will soon see money becoming as expensive in the more traditional lending facilities as they are now at the payday loan companies. More and more defaults will soon follow that. Money that can never be paid back is not worth much, is it?

Gold on the other hand is not anybody elses liability. Be smart and be on the right end of the cash for gold transactions going on in Toronto and make sure you get your share before that dollar bubble goes pop.
