Sell Used Games To Collectors

By:

When I was back in middle school in the early 1980's, I would spend the summer days playing what was at the time the cutting edge in video game technology Long before Sony and Microsoft were ever considering their highly sophisticated gaming consuls, I was happily spending my days with an Atari 2600 joystick in my hands. Having only one fire button to worry about I enjoyed playing games like Pitfall, Frogger and Missile Command with the a very state of the art video gaming consul that my parents had bought me and my siblings. Some 30 years ago I enjoyed playing in front of the television for hours on end and still remember the game of Pong that came with the consul when it was brand new.

As the years passed I moved on to playing on different gaming platforms and for a span of time in mid 1990's believed that playing on a Sega Genesis was the ultimate in video game technology. Eventually I went to sell used games that I had been so attached to and waited for a few years for my children to get older before purchasing the next generation of realistic graphics and controllers. I remember it was Christmas of 2004, when I surprised my family with the original Xbox gaming consol. Looking to sell used games that I had collected with the previous two gaming platforms I found a retailer that collects the older model game systems and buys the games that go along with the consuls I played on, some 30 years ago.

Even the outdated systems from Nintendo are available for collectors that are looking for a nostalgic gaming experience. Having the ability to buy and sell used games I have been able to once more upgrade my consul to the Xbox 360 platform. Choosing it over the Playstation or Wii I found that some of my original Xbox games were still compatible with the upgraded gaming technology. Being able to sell used games to the collector that still has an array of older model or classic video gaming consuls and controllers, I was able to make a couple of dollars from the sale of the games that have been surpassed with the lifelike animated graphics available today.

Taking what was a reasonable amount of money from the selling my old games I sometimes wonder if people still play the Atari 2600, Nintendo GameCube, Sega Genesis or other video games that required a plastic cartridge to be inserted into the slot in the consol. Playing wirelessly now with my kids, I am worried that within a few more years I will once more be faced with a decision to upgrade my gaming system to an even better looking platform of high end graphics and player interaction.
