Selected Impressive Punk Drummers Of The Past Decade.-00-631

By: NickyWalker

At the start of the list is a rather recent drummer, a number of people may dispute that he's not truly a punk drummer and more of a heavy metal one but I differ, it's right that he's fond to slow it down and do his death metal fills but at heart he's genuinely a punk rocker-
Steve Jocz -AKA "Stevo"Born 23/07/1981. Jocz is most recognized for his work in the Canadian pop punk band Sum 41. A fantastically fast and awkward drummer, he's able to switch the ambiance of a song right away. Only one of the small amount of punk drummers that can play cheesy metal rolls and get away with it. Steve is also renowned for his toilet comedy which is a distinct sign of punk maturity/immaturity- you decide!
Tr Cool (real name Frank Edwin Wright III)Born December 9, 1972. Tr is part of the original (pretty much) 3 piece which makes up Green Day. Swaying much more to the pop part of punk as a drummer, Tr positively helped Green Day attain the universal audience that pushed them to superstars. If he been just another, high speed, clichd drummer the band might have toiled to pull such a massive market.
Josh FreeseBorn December 25, 1972. Freese is most recognized for his work in The Vandals however can list countless other bands and accomplishment. A high speed drummer he's able to slow it down and mix with the finest and has performed for Guns N' Roses, Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne as if to prove the point. His individual records can also show a measured, more refrained drumming style demonstrating that a fast pace isn't the lot however for me I prefer the Vandals noise.
Travis BarkerBorn November 14, 1975. Possibly most recognized for his work in Blink 182 he has also banged away for countless other bands. Travis sits in at number 2 not simply as for his talented speed and timing but also because of his eclectic range of styles from Hip-hop to Punk, Pop to even Country.
Erik Sandin-AKA "Smelly"Born on July 29, 1966. Erik is the permanent drummer for NOFX. Erik was an original member of the band however left two years later in 1983. In 1986 he was persuaded to re-join the band but suffered from heroin dependence until 1992 when he checked into a rehabilitation treatment centre and has been off the drugs constantly since. Whilst Sandin might not be the top of everybodys list, for everyone who understands the excellence of NOFX then there is no rival.

Even though Nicky has matured (a little) and uses his time working for virtual PA services, he will forever be a gigantic enthusiast of punk. Unfortunately his hair's a bit more practical these days too.
