Searching For Permanent Weight Loss? Find Out About Causes Of Obesity

By:

Obesity is a complicated health problem and there is not just one thing that leads to it. In fact there are many possible reasons for obesity in adults including habits around food, genetic contributors, environmental factors and social pressures. There are even diseases that can contribute to obesity. If you are seeking safe weight loss it will help you to learn about the possible cause of your own circumstance.

Our habits surrounding food can lead to putting on weight. This is even more likely if we have established more than one negative habit that adds to the problem. Possible causes may include dining regularly at fast-food restaurants or consuming a lot of high-calorie snacks such as those with high sugar or high fat content. It can also be to do with regularly eating larger than normal portions or going back for second or third helpings.

Some scientists feel that there is possibly a genetic component to obesity that can be set off by certain environmental factors such as lifestyle, and the current abundance of food.

The environmental factors and social pressures that may contribute to the obesity problem include lifestyle behaviors such as consuming more than your body requires in combination with being physically inactive. It can also be influenced by consuming large meals that contain many high fat foods. The society we live in today is fast-paced and we often do not make time to sit down for meals anymore. This encourages settling for fast food lunches and dinners or frequenting vending machines due to the convenience these food sources provide for people in a hurry to arrive at work, school, a meeting or a sporting event.

There may be other environmental factors at play such as poverty and a lower standard of education. These may also be linked to obesity. The sad truth is that high-calorie processed foods often cost less these days and are also easier to find and quicker prepare than healthier alternatives like fresh fruits and vegetables. Many feel that they cannot be bothered with the more healthy option because it takes more effort than just throwing something that has already been prepared into the microwave.

There are various diseases that can lead to the occurrence of obesity such as hypothyroidism, which is a condition that occurs when the thyroid gland fails to produce enough of the correct hormone leading to a lower than normal metabolism. The person with this condition experiences an energy loss and will experience a lower than normal motivation to exercise as much as they should.

Another disease that can contribute to obesity is known as Cushing's syndrome and is a hormonal disorder as well. There is a chance that women with polycystic ovary syndrome may also be prone to obesity.

If you feel that there is a chance you may be obese it is important to make a visit to your medical doctor as soon as possible so that obesity can be determined. Your doctor will also be able to assess the probable cause or causes. Once the cause is established you can formulate a good treatment plan to get your weight under control and lower your risk of the health issues linked to obesity. Safe and permanent weight loss is essential to improve your future well being.
