Scary Games That Can Help Children Overcome Fear Of Darkness

By:

Kids are often afraid from dark and avoid staying in dark for a longer time. They dont feel comfortable because usually they imagine scary creatures or something, or relive some difficult situations that they had during the day. Consequently, these kids cant imagine playing some scary games, especially with lights off, but actually experts suggest that games in the dark can help children overcome any fear of darkness, making the darkness seem fun. Here are some interesting scary games to play in dark.

First game is about touching scary things. Youll need a sandbox or large tub filled with sand and scary feeling objects like plastic spiders, toy eyeballs or wax lips. Hide them in the sandbox and add scary feeling fruits such as ugly tomatoes, kiwi, or hairy peaches. Find in your house and other objects that feel strange or funny, for example roll up old socks or nylon pantyhose, add plastic bottles, kitchen tools or any old plastic object.

These objects also hide under the sand. Kids should be blindfolded, and after this is done, spin them around a time or two and lead them to the sandbox area. Every one of them has a sack in which collects items in a definite time of three minutes. Its funny to see how kids scream in scary delight. When the time is up, children should share the contents of their bags.

Hunt for Treats should be played in the yard. For this game you need small packagedtoys, or small bags of snack chips that should be putted in an outdoor yard area. Add to these scary items such as rubber snakes and bugs and decorate the area with skeletons, ghosts and other scary hangings. Kids should have a small flashlight and a box, to collect treats. When the lights are shut off, kids should start collecting. The game stops after five minutes and the kid that has collected most treats wins a prize and all off the other kids keep their treasure boxes as a gift to take home.

Game called Escaped convict can be played in many variations. The basic rules are the following. One kid should play the part of an escaped convict. He should be blindfolded and in background has to be turn on some sound effects or eerie music. While he is blindfolded, other children look for a place to hide. The blindfolded kid removes the blind fold and replaces it with a gruesome rubber mask. Lights should be turn off, while the masked child is trying to find the other kids. When he locates one, he points at him saying You are dead. The dead kid goes to another room, the morgue." And the last person caught is the winner of the game.

These games are not dangerous but keep in mind the age of the kid when you are choosing which to play, or just try to adjust the game to the kid's level of understanding and abilities. The area in which kids are playing should be kept clear of harmful obstructions or objects.
