Saving Energy Is Like Making A Movie Everything Counts

By:

Oil and electricity prices are not going down anytime soon. The time is here to think seriously about how we can conserve energy and spend it wisely. Think of it as a major movie production. Just like in movies, it has to be kept within budget. This means that people should make use of energy saving ideas in all aspects of the film: choosing location, using equipment, selecting costumes and doing staff work.

Location:

In movies, the best scenes are shot in good locations. In the same way, you should think about finding a good location or transform your home or office into an energy efficient building.

Wrong insulation ravages half the energy you use in cooling and heating homes. To maintain the warmth or coolness of your office or home, be sure that your windows and walls are properly insulated. During the day, make the most out of the suns heat by raising the blinds and curtains. Drop the window treatments at night time to trap the heat.

Installing a fan in the attic is another bright energy saving idea. During winter, it prevents heat from rising up, keeping the home warm.

A well maintained garden can keep your space looking clean and fresh. Trees, plants, grass and flowers can aide in keeping your home cool during summer. They also provide shade and protection for your building.

The less you drive, the fewer the energy you consume. If you own a business, encourage your employees to live nearby the office. Or, move your place of business in an area where most of your employees reside. While it helps to ensure that your office is energy-efficient, moving your business close to those who will use it is a better energy saving idea.

Costume:

If you cant wait for the costumes to dry, consider buying a dryer that shuts off automatically when the clothes are ready. A cheaper alternative would be to wash and dry only when the load is full. Be carefull, however, not to pack your dryer since costumes dry faster when they have enough room to spin around.
The best energy saving idea is to wear the right clothes. If its hot out, wear clothes made of cotton or pieces with light colors so you wont have to use more energy on cooling appliances.

Lighting:

Make the most out of the sunlight. Finish as many scenes/activities as possible during the day so you wont have to use synthetic lighting. If you are using incandescent light bulbs, replace it with fluorescent lamps. This can slash 15% off your lighting cost.

Equipment:

Always turn off your computers when they are not in use. Instead of using a desktop, consider buying a laptop. Laptops consume 80% less energy than most desktops. The smaller the laptop, the less energy it consumes. Same principle applies to other equipment.

Saving energy is not only good for your pocket; it is also good for the environment. Remember these bright energy saving ideas always and inspire others to do the same.
