Save Hundreds Of Dollars With A Digital Antenna

The nationwide average for the unemployment rate is 7 percent, and it is expected to rise anywhere from 9 to 10 percent by the end of the year. Everywhere you go, you hear of a family member or a close friend who was laid off or had their hours cut because of the state budget crisis or because their employer needed to cut costs. With economic uncertainty, cut hours, and job layoffs, more people are having to cut back on unnecessary spending, such as dining out, shopping for clothes and home wares, and canceling unneeded services.

Some have had to downgrade cell phone plans and cancel satellite radio, movie, and video game subscriptions. For TV enthusiasts, downgrading their current TV service with their cable or satellite company is painful. Canceling that service, however, is not as bad as it seems. It may seem like you are downgrading at first, but when you experience firsthand the many benefits of watching TV with an antenna, you might wonder why you hadn't thought of using one before.

The obvious benefit of using an antenna is the freedom of not having to pay for a monthly service. Paying anywhere from 30 to 50 dollars every month for service may not seem like a lot at first, but when you start to tally up your monthly expenses and have to set aside money for this recurring payment, it starts to hurt just a little bit. Flashy promotions and special introductory prices may lure in new customers, but once the period ends, the original prices go into effect and cost anywhere from 50 to 100 percent more than it initially cost you.

What many do not realize is that a lot of shows can now be watched on the internet, provided by the stations that broadcast them on TV and by other websites. If you are a fan of special channels, such as Discovery Channel, Comedy Central, or Nickelodeon, then you can view full episodes on their websites. Not all shows may be available on all channels, but most offer the convenience of being able to watch these shows whenever you want. You can always hook up your computer to your TV if you want to watch it on a bigger screen.

What many also do not realize that HD channels should not have to cost you at all when it is readily available with over-the-air signals. Why should you pay extra to have these channels that are essentially free if you have a VHF/UHF antenna? You can have access to all of your local channels plus HD without paying extra for fancy, extra equipment or without having to give your cable or satellite company extra money.

Saving money is crucial to everyone right now, and you can enjoy the luxury of free HD, free TV, and extra money every month with an antenna.
