By:

You probably know that a lot of fires in the home start in the kitchen because you cook in there and sometimes accidents or malfunctions just happen. You need to stay in the room when there is cooking taking place. If you have to leave the room, turn off everything and remove it from the heat. This way a fire will not start and your home will be safe. This is simple to do to protect your family and all your things that you have. There is so sense in taking unnecessary risks.

Always use caution when you are cooking with oil. When oil gets too hot, it can boil over just like water. It will also splatter everywhere if you put something very cold or frozen in it. Do not put water on a fire on the stove or on oil because it can make it even worse and more dangerous for you. You can put salt or baking soda on a stove burner flare up and it will smother it out. If a bigger fire breaks out, turn off the burners and spray it with the fire extinguisher. Every kitchen needs a fire extinguisher close by.

If you do not have one then you need to get one in your home and put it some place by the kitchen. Do not let kids come near the stove or anything frying because they can get hurt. It is better to just keep them out of the kitchen while you are cooking so you will not have any distractions. Kitchen fires can be very dangerous if it gets out of control and someone could get injured or killed. It can spread through the home faster than you think. If you can not get a kitchen fire out with an extinguisher, call the fire department immediately.

It is important to avoid fire in a kitchen, but other accidents can happen there as well. Keep the handles of pots turned inwards toward the stove. Leaving them sticking out can make them easier to knock off and cause scalding to you or someone else. Keep potholders and dish towels away from the stove when they are not in use to avoid setting them on fire accidentally. Always be careful when pouring hot liquids. Boiling liquids or foods might not burn the same as fire, but it will damage the skin, cause scarring, and be extremely painful just the same.
