Rowing machine exercise is a low impact workout and involves using all the limbs of your body. You stretch and bend your arms and legs and at the same time you bend and straighten your back. As you use the main muscles of your body while performing rowing machine exercise your breathing starts to get laboured and your pulse rate goes up. But when you feel that you are over stretching yourself, you must slow down, or rest the oars for a while and take a breather.

Before you get started you must do a few warm up exercises for about five minutes to get your body prepared for the exercise. You can try touching your toes as this exercise does stretch your arms and your back muscles. Sit on the rowing machine, place your feet on the foot pads and back sure your feet are strapped into them. Now take the oar handles in your hands and make sure you don"t grip them too tightly. Next pull the handles towards you to a position just below your chest. Now stretch out your arms again. Congratulations! You have completed your first stroke and your boat is away. Keep repeating this movement and you are now doing rowing exercise. Time your breathing with your strokes and don"t try to row too fast.

You will get into a rhythm and should easily be able to exercise on the fitness rowing machine for about twenty minutes. If it"s your first attempt on a rowing machine you can stop after that. You will feel all the muscles of your body tingling as they have all been exercised. Rowing is a great fitness exercise and it burns calories and strengthens the cardio muscles.

Once you follow a rowing machine workout routine you will definitely enjoy it, as it"s a low impact exercise. You can set the pace that you want and even if you row lazily all the muscles of your body will get exercised. You will shed those extra pounds and feel healthier. What a lot of people don"t know is that by doing rowing machine exercises you reduce stress. As your circulation increases, your muscles get exercised your mind will automatically relax and you will feel the tension unwinding from your body and mind as well.
