Building a Western Theme
Just like those who live near the beach have it easy developing a beach them, those in more rural areas with barns, horses and hay can more readily create a western themed event. Nonetheless, theres a variety of
western decorations available including western decoration kits that can help create the atmosphere for a successful western themed company picnic. You can even get some western desert decoration kits with scenic mountains and cactus or wild west character kits featuring buffalo and stage coaches. Combine these with other touches like stringing up some western style pennant banners above the dance floor.
Of course, even in more urban areas, it should be possible to find bales of hay and some other props to help build the theme. The bales of hay can be especially useful as dual purpose decorations and seating options. Add some wood on top of a couple bales of hay and youve got a table! Dont have a split rail fence handy? You can get a western style split rail fence party prop to do the trick. Add some western themed signs and maybe a few wagon wheels youre well on your way.
Even the necessities can add to the theme. How about some
customized steel party tubs or imprinted barrel-style wooden beverage tubs to hold all the beverages for the event? Serve up the beverages in some western stoneware mugs. Point people to the food with a Chuck Wagon Sign and some western style table runners. Dont forget the Country & Western music!
Promoting the Western Company Picnic
Get the employees attention by sending them an imprinted bandana invitation or maybe a covered wagon stress reliever imprinted with a save the date message! If you have a company cafeteria, get folks in the mood with some western menus leading up to the event like BBQ Ribs and corn on the cob! Encourage employees to attend by offering embroidered custom logo western styled shirts or cowboy hats!
Western Themed Activities
Youve got to get a little creative with some western themed activities but its not too hard. Why not have a faux cow pie toss using some custom

Another great dance floor idea thats great for people of all ages is line dancing. It also makes a great spectator sport for those who may not want to participate but still can enjoy in the fun.
For a special adult activity, why not rent a mechanical bull and plenty of padding? Of course, theres always a horseshoe tournament or event a friendly poker games for the adults.

In addition to prizes for the activities, consider some giveaways for employees and their families to take home like western themed custom playing cards, custom belt buckles or LED light-up boot mug! For the younger kids, how about a western styled stuffed toy?
