Rome: The Road To Contemporary Art, From 2 To 5 April 2009

By:

With the fair The Road to Contemporary Art Rome aims at becoming a protagonist also in the field of contemporary art, attracting galleries, collectors and people with a passion for this kind of art, who will stay in the citys cheap hotels. The second edition of the exhibition will be held from the 2nd to the 5th of April, with the same innovative formula that made the past edition of the fair successful. The great innovation of the fair is to be found in the spaces where it is hosted: the works coming from around 60 Italian and international galleries, indeed, will not be displayed in the aseptic stalls of the pavilions that usually arise outside the historical centre, but in wonderful historical buildings, symbols for the eternal city which make Rome worth a visit. Thus visitors will have the possibility to discover some of the most innovative contemporary works of art and to visit some wonderful buildings at once, following a path that will lead them through some focal points of the city to discover the new proposals of contemporary art.

The exhibition is characterised by an original mixture of contemporary art and historical sites, but also by a very diversified proposal, which will certainly make all visitors and buyers happy, and which will give galleries and artists the possibility to make themselves known. The fair, indeed, will host both successful and emerging galleries, which rely on artists who are not famous yet and which, for this reason, are to keep a close eye on. In particular, the fair will be divided into 3 sections: the Fair, in Palazzo delle Esposizioni and Palazzo Venezia, will host the most famous artists and the best-established galleries, which take part also in other international fairs; Stargate, in Palazzo delle Esposizioni and Palazzo Venezia as well, will be dedicated to the galleries which have been open for less than 7 years and which, still relying on experimentation and research, have achieved success; Start up will include the youngest, less than 3 years old galleries: thanks to The Road to Contemporary Art they will have the great chance to make themselves known and to present their artists to a wide public and in a prestigious context.

A good piece of advice is to book a bed & breakfast in Rome for all the period of the fair and to take part also in the several events that make the programme of The Road to Contemporary Art particularly inviting: exhibition of artists private collections, of works realised with video materials, of experimental works and of works realised by young artists of the Mediterranean area, besides debates and meetings with artists, collectors and gallery owners.
