The annual Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival is a contemporary hard rock and metal music festival which has featured some of the most renowned bands in the modern heavy metal genre. Having had its inception in 2008 the festival has gained a fervent following amongst lovers of this kind of music. The festival includes tours through a large extent of the United States and the Canadian province of Quebec.
Many different bands representing diverse sub-genres in the metal scene are represented at the festival, including such varieties as death metal, thrash metal, metalcore, numetal, power metal, deathcore, progressive metal and industrial metal.
The festival has featured three separate stages every year since its inception; in addition to the Main Stage, the popular Jagermeister Stage and an additional third stage have provided entertainment for the fans. Many of the participating bands conduct meet-and-greet sessions where they interact with the fans.
The 2011 edition of the Mayhem Festival continued the momentum created by previous editions of the festival. Featured bands included such rock mainstays as Megadeth, Godsmack, Disturbed, Testament, Machinehead and Suicide Silence amongst many others.
Megadeth is noted for its densely constructed passages, strong guitar work and powerful solos. Lyrical themes encompass war, politics, religion, personal relationships and addiction. Godsmack, which has had the distinction of achieving three consecutive Billboard Number 1 albums, is noted for its dark, heavy, turbulent musical vision. They are presently one of the top names in the US metal scene.
Disturbed has made a name for itself as a stylistically unique metal band and have notched up no less than four albums debuting at the Number 1 position on the Billboard album charts. Meanwhile Machineheads brutal sound has made it a pioneering force in American Heavy Metals New Wave.
The sensational Metal Mulisha motocross group with its freestyle performances has been a side attraction each year at the festival. The opportunity to witness the daredevil riding of the team on their powerful motorcycles with metallic fury in the background should not be missed.
With all this on offer it is not surprising that the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival draws thousands of fans to its venues in North America.
