I have to admit that with the economy still a bit shaky I was not inclined to consider purchasing a luxury car this year, but apparently many people were confident enough to do just that. Mercedes-Benz had a spike in sales that proves people are ready to get back to buying even new, higher-priced vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz stepped it up in June with an increase in sales of 25.4 percent to 18,997 vehicles. Their year-to-day increase is 25.7 percent and this just tells me that the auto industry is on its way up with such an increase in luxury car purchases. Many other automakers had large sales increases in past months as well, but many offered huge incentives and most were for more moderately-priced vehicles.

Rhode Island used Mercedes SL-Class dealers are pleased that the gains were made in passenger car and light truck classes. Coming out with the biggest sales was the C-Class, which is traditionally popular with younger or first-time buyers. The C-Class had sales of 5,563. The well-established E-Class also posted gains, with sales up 74.9 percent to 4.865. Coming in at a strong third was the M-Class SUV which sold 2,124.

Other Mercedes-Benz models with impressive sales increased included the S-Class Sedan, up a remarkable 106.5 percent and the SLK which was up 153.8 percent. Even the G-Class boasted gains of 124.3 percent. Another moniker of the upswing in the industry was the sale of 50 SLS AMGs, the brands new supercar. This brings its yearly sales to 218.

Dealers of RI used Mercedes CL-Class look at these numbers as a definite sign that consumers are no longer afraid to make large purchases and that they prefer to buy the best quality whenever possible.

Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned program dealers like your Rhode Island used Mercedes SL-Class dealer sold 6,425 vehicles, which was up 7.1 percent over June 2009 sales. The annual sales so far for this program are 41,322. Thats an increase of 6.1 percent over last year.
