Folding paper by hand is a long and tedious process. It not only takes a long time to do, but the edges of the paper never seem to align themselves up properly. If you occasionally fold letters for mailing or distribution purposes, you may want to consider a desktop folding machine like the Techko LF282N from ABCOffice.com.

Out of the box, the LF282N (Same as the Ledah 10540 and Dahle 10540) is almost completely assembled. All that you need to do is snap the feed tray into the top of the machine. The box is also one of the better padded and protected I've seen from a manufacturer, so the chance of you receiving a damaged item is pretty minimal.

The LF282N is an extremely affordable machine, designed for use in an office environment by administrative assistants and others that typically mail out a few dozen letters a day. While it is not designed for commercial or industrial use, it is a great assistant for creating professional folds throughout the day. This makes it a great desktop machine.

Using the LF282N is extremely simple. It has a total of 2 slots. The back slot is where the paper goes in and the front slot is where the paper comes out. This paper folding machine doesn't have a traditional feed tray as you may see on high-end machines. It is designed to fold 1-5 sheets of paper at a time, which the operator manually dropping the paper into the feed slot. A sensor automatically fires up the machine and starts folding the paper as it is detected, which is pretty convenient.

While it can fold up to 5 sheets of paper at a time, it does its best job at 1 to 3 sheets. I have found that 5 sheets, while it can be done, done all end up as aligned as I would personally like. It is still a great multi-sheet folding machine for 1-3 sheets.

As mentioned earlier, this is a desktop paper folding machine. It literally sits right on a desk. It is extremely portable. Weighing in at just 9 pounds shipped, this folding machine can be easily picked up and moved around from one desk to another.

The Techko LF282N is a very versatile machine when it comes to paper sizes. It can handle sheet sizes ranging from 3" x 11" up to 8" x 11". Keep in mind that it is designed to work with 20# paper, which is about the thickness of your standard copy paper. This is important to remember. It will not work with card stock or glossy paper. Glossy paper is too slick and will jam on the friction-feed rollers.

This folding machine only creates one type of fold, the letter fold (aka the C fold). While this is the most common fold created today, it will not create a single fold (aka half fold) or an accordion fold (aka Z fold). That said, it does a very good job at what it is designed to do.

As long as you keep in mind that this is a desktop folding machine, and is not designed for high-volume use, you should be happy with this machine. You will find the Techko LF282N paper folding machine at ABCOffice.com.
