Residential Wind Generators: Why Have They Not Caught On In The United States Like They Have Within

By:

As far as renewable energy systems go residential wind turbines have been fairly popular. However, in Europe they have been much more popular for a longer period of time.

All over the world people are thinking about renewable energy solutions. Geothermal, solar, and residential wind turbines all are becoming discussed in popular culture and are available at reasonable prices now even on websites like Amazon.com.

But, Europe has been quicker to catch on and implement renewables in general.

Why is that the case?

There are several reasons:

The most powerful reason is that the culture there is a lot more adaptable to change. Europeans in general are more green-minded and a have a real sense of the shortage of national natural resources that they have. This makes them very aware of conservation and the need for reducing the amount of energy they use.

Another reason that residential wind turbines in Europe have become very popular is the subsidies by the governments there. The governments in Europe have been very active in terms of offering money and discounts for people willing to install wind turbine operations at their homes. This incentivizes people to take action quickly and has made Germany in particular a Mecca for wind turbine production.

Another reason is simply that there is a lot more wind there. There are a lot more mountainous regions in European countries and especially in Germany where you can achieve very good results with residential wind turbines. You can make a lot of energy there and the prices of power in those places are all so very high.

The reason prices are so high for electricity in Europe is that the sources of energy supply are so far away. Residential wind turbines represent a way for homeowners to reduce their costs significantly. Wind power costs are in the $.20 per kilowatt hour range it is very difficult to not have any renewable solution work for you.

In summary, residential wind turbines can be a tremendous asset in America. But, they are not as popular here is they have been in Europe. The reason for that is multifold and speaks to the abundance of resources that still dominate American society.

With the prices of fossil fuels and the supplies of fossil fuels going in opposite directions, there is no choice really but to look at renewable as a short-term fix. I say a short term fix because eventually we're going to have to probably move to nuclear before renewable really grab a toe hold. France for example is moved quickly to nuclear and it is the predominant nuclear generator in the entire world, although they have a reputation for being extremely green and ecology-minded.
