Residential Restoration Requires The Work Of An Interior Contractor

By:

After purchasing a home that was built decades ago many people find that they are in need of some residential restoration to their property. Homes that were built over 100 years ago have to be brought up to code and made livable for someone that has modern day needs. Depending upon the age of the home the electrical system may have to be updated to ensure the safety of the new owner. Plumbing and lighting are also the focus of remodeling projects that are undertaken by a general contractor.

Massachusetts residents that are refurbishing the homes of a century or two ago sometimes find that the original floor plan of the residence is as outdated as the plumbing and electrical work. Hiring an interior contractor to create a more user-friendly living space homeowners sometimes start with the very basics of a house and create their ideal environment around the classic structures that were built with brick and mortar.

Seeing the renovation work that takes place from beginning to end is an amazing transformation that while leaving the exterior of a house in the same beautiful design that it was constructed changes almost everything about the interior of a home. For someone that has purchased a house which has been standing for more than a century the interior remodel should include a number of modern features including the addition of insulation between the walls. As older homes are drafty the windows are another area that must be addressed before the interior work can be done to makeover the structure.

When my aunt died several years ago my brother decided to purchase the home that she had spent her entire life in. A spinster who chose to care for my aged grandparents who first bought the home when it was brand new, the house is easily 150 years old and at the time of my aunt's passing had never been updated. Tearing out the walls to gain access to the plumbing and electrical wire that was worn and frayed, my brother brought in an interior contractor to bring the utility work inside the home up to code.

Starting in the kitchen and bathroom the work has been ongoing as each room in the house has been modified to meet the needs of families today. The old place still looks as it did when I would visit my maternal grandparents as a boy, but the inside of the house is completely different than I remember now that it been upgraded through a residential restoration that makes the interior as beautiful as the classic structure of the brick exterior is.
