Requirements For Your Own Limo Rental Service

By:

For many people, owning their own business is truly The American Dream. After all, this allows you to be freed from the bondage of a normal work schedule and lets you earn money how you want, doing what you want, and answering only to yourself.

The bad news: Opening your own business is not always easy. For nearly any business, there are numerous requirements that must be met to grow the business to its maximum potential. For our purposes here, let's focus on the minimum requirements for opening and operating a limo rental service.

First, as with most businesses, you need to create a business plan. This plan serves as the guide in running your business. It helps you plan ahead for pitfalls, and perhaps most importantly, it is helpful in convincing banks and lenders to lend your money.

Speaking of which, the second thing you need is a line of credit. In fact, you'll probably need a good deal of money in running this kind of business.

If you find yourself in serious financial need, you can always go to a bank or other lender. However, you should understand that a typical lender will not let just anyone borrow money. They will first consider your credit score.

In most cases, a lender will only grant money to those with good credit. However, in a few instances, some might loan you money, even with poor credit, as long as you can show proof that you can repay the loan. Your business loan is one piece of evidence to show that the bank's money is in good hands.

Naturally, you cannot run a limo service unless you buy some limos. There are different makes and models of limos.

When you choose the ones you want, select those that fit your budget first and foremost. If you're just beginning, it's seldom wise to buy a lot of high-end models.

Consider also buying pre-owned limos. They are more affordable, yet usually have similar functionality. Watch, however, that the limo is well maintained and in overall good condition.

You should also have an office for your limo business. This provides a place for prospective customers to meet with you.

If you have extra space in your home, you can turn it into an office (although a regular office in an area accessible to the public is better).

And likewise, you need the basic office equipment and furniture. This means you need a dedicated phone line, a computer, desk, filing cabinets, and chairs.

And finally, one item that often is overlooked: A quality limo service needs a garage where you can hold the limos that are currently on standby.

Ideally this garage will be somewhere close to your office so that your clients, before they make their decision, will be able to see what's available and possibly even test the car before they make the decision to rent it.

These are the items that will get you started in the limo business. Once you've made these purchases, you'll be on your way to becoming one of the big boys in the industry.
