Religion And Faith

Religion And Faith

By:

Tapan: Hey Harry, I've been asked to write an article on Religion and faith.
Harry: Religion and faith? Are they not the same?
Tapan: Hmm, yeah, a strong belief in Supernatural Powers, what can I write that's not already there?
Harry: You are the writer Tapan.
Tapan: Quite so, Religion is man made where as faith is a spiritual concept.
Harry: I don't have faith in Religion that is codified by the beliefs of religious bodies involved in politics and power struggles.
Tapan: You are not alone in this, the Religion and Religious places are falling in popularity. Moreover they give rise to major wars and conflicts around the world.
Harry: Sure, all the terrorism is only due to that.
Tapan: Now what's your take on faith?
Harry: Faith is your own belief that may be based on some logical thinking and experience.
Tapan: True but blind faith is avoidable as it compels you to breed specious reasoning.
Harry: So now what are you going to write. What is your religion? Are you a religious man?
Tapan: Yeah, I'm religious but there is no code of conduct or any rituals that I follow.
Harry: You have told me what you don't. Now, tell me what you do.
Tapan: I do everything religiously and sometime get involved in the strangest incidents. But don't
like to talk about them.
Harry: You are a writer, what are you going to write about, if you don't revel yourself.
Tapan: Hmm, okay buddy. I will tell you what happened a few days ago. A vendor was trying to sell me a ten rupee lottery ticket; I just bought it to please him.
Harry: Don't tell me. Did you get a lottery?
Tapan: No silly, what will I do with the lottery money? I have absolutely no use of it and so I just gave it to the first urchin, I saw.
Harry: Wow, so did he get it?
Tapan: I don't know, besides the chances are one in a million, although there was a lot of hope, I could see in his face. I felt very bad, I told him that the chances were very remote and gave him a thousand rupee note. He was thrilled, he was spell bound. I realized I had done something insane. As a reflex action I made him sit in
the car and drove off.
Harry: Thank your stars, you saved yourself from a mob of urchins. This is so much like you.
Tapan: Well, I asked him what he was going to do with the money. He said he will return it to me, he day he gets the lottery money.
Harry: That was very thoughtful. You seem to attract good people. Otherwise a guy like you will not survive in this world.
Tapan: Maybe, well he was brilliant. He worked out an extensive plan of investing this tiny amount. He had wanted to work very hard to make money for his folks and now I had given him this great break. I dropped him at a convenient place, hiding my tears behind dark glasses. Lottery can do a great deal to the most deserving that has been denied a reward so far.
Harry: I see where you are coming from Tapan.
Tapan: However, free money can be a curse for most of us. It can only induce greed and make you a slave of money.
Harry: The insecure lot, the hoarders.
Tapan: True, the wrong doers too, the power hungry lot.
Harry: So what's the moral of the story?
Tapan: If you happen to get a lottery or have more then your needs, put it to the most rewarding
use. Be very selective; give it to the most deserving.
You will really relish the thrill and enjoyment on their faces. This is the best Reward you can ever get. Do this with who every your heart tells you, no restrictions and no do's and don'ts governing you. You should be a giver all the way enjoy distributing love. Love with an open heart guilt free. Please read the scripture in your heart and not only in the books. This should be your religion. You may be called a fool by some and a cheat by others. It may be difficult for you to survive this way but if you do, you would be in bliss.
Harry: Wow, that's good. Do you have something to say about faith?
Tapan: Yes a lot, but some other day.
