Relationship Between Phytoestrogen And Mammary Glands Development

By:

Phytoestrogens are very important in herbal products because they are made up of 100% natural ingredients making their composition with powerful estrogenic characteristics.

The most significant estrogenic characteristics of Phytoestrogen remain in its power to act like endogenous estrogens, by facilitating the development of natural mammary glands. At one point of early foetal life of the epithelial cells, derived from the epidermis of the area that will be converted later in halo, the mesenchyme proliferates. In humans, 20 cords or less are formed, they develop to be converted into conduits connected to mammelons, then, they open to the area. They surround the ducts, forming a network of myeloepithelials cells designed to promote the expulsion of milk.

During subsequent stages of gestation, the hidden ends of pipes bloom to form alveolar structures, thus a small amount of secretory activity takes place. The results of this training in the chest occur after a period of 1 to 7 weeks. Subsequently, in case of absence of oestrogen and progesterone coming from the placenta, the breast goes back to a stage of reclination, integrated by a few scattered ducts. It is possible that such a regression would not be completed even several months after treatment.

In several species, there is a sexual dimorphism during the embryogeneses of the excretory duct system. In people, it appears like any functional difference in the breasts of girls and boys before puberty. Shortly before menarche human, with the increasing secretion of oestrogen from the ovary, female breast begins to form, followed by the extremities and the formation of the underlying connective tissue. Additional growth is taking place cyclically, with some regression at the end of each cycle. The development of the mammary gland is controlled by the multi-hormonal involved by the interaction between the ovaries and the pituitary.

The combined action of oestrogen, progesterone, the glucocorticoid, the insulin, growth hormone and tyrroidien gland is involved. Traditional studies about the endocrine gland replacement showed that the ovarian stradiol appears to be critical during the major phases of mammary development, the expansion of ducts during puberty and the labial-alveolar development during pregnancy. However, the effects of breast oestrogen growth show up requiring a functional pituitary gland.

Oestrogens may contribute to mammary development by directly acting on the mammary gland and /or through the indirect action of the axis endocrine of the hypotalam / pituitary / gonadal. Alveolar development is also controlled by the PROLACTA and progesterone; nursing is regulated by prolactin. The oestrogen, as has been said before, is not effective in the absence of the previous pituitary hormones.

Oestrogen administration to animals facilitates the breast formation, if the lactotropic cells in the pituitary increase the secretion of the hormone PROLACTA and the growth. In the presence of these two hormones, oestrogen acts to facilitate the development of ductal breast.

Although oestrogen prepares the chest to the possible formation of milk, it also acts to inhibit breastfeeding and behave as a prolactin antagonist. This largely happens due to high levels of oestrogen and progesterone that are circulating preventing women from breastfeeding during pregnancy. The sudden withdrawal of these hormones at the end of pregnancy initiates the beginning of breastfeeding. The oestrogen also acts to adjust the number of prolactin receptors in the tissue of the chest.

In this article it has been shown how oestrogen is involved on mammary development, in the next article you will understand the importance of phytoestrogen.
