Reflective Insulation Is Recommended For Year Round Mild Climate Attic Insulation

By:

What is reflective insulation? It is a type of thermal insulation that uses the idea that heat loss can be reduced substantially by using highly reflective materials such as aluminium. For example, heat from the sun can be reflected back out so it does not heat up your home during the summer months when you are using air conditioning to cool the house.

To reduce the transfer of heat between your home and the outside, the best area to insulate is your roof and attic as majority of the energy transfer will take place through there. Reflective insulation reduces the temperature difference between the home and its surrounding hence reducing the transfer of energy. Hot air naturally rises and meets cooler air and to maintain a comfortable temperature within the home we either use a heating or cooling system.

We waste the most energy in keeping our homes at a temperature that we like all year round. By insulating the house we will require less energy to maintain a suitable temperature by using less of our heaters or air conditioning units.

Condensation and air movement is reduced in a well insulated home. This results in a decrease in using either your heating or cooling systems thus reducing your utility bills. Insulating is also economically and environmentally friendly as it helps support our goal to conserve energy and reduce wastage of energy. Using reflective insulation is also a very good solution for draughty buildings as it seals air gaps.

There are a few varieties of thermal insulation using reflective materials on offer that can be quite easily installed by professionals. Insulating the roof and attic using reflective insulation is a very effective method as it works on the area where the energy transfer and wastage is the greatest.
