Blood Pressure (also referred as BP) is the pressure exerted by the circulating blood upon the walls of blood vessels. It varies between a minimum and a maximum pressure which is called Diastolic and Systolic respectively. BP is determined by the amount of blood your heart pumps and the amount of resistance to blood flow in your arteries. High blood pressure (Hypertension) occurs when your heart pumps more blood and narrow your arteries. This is the main cause of heart diseases.

Blood pressure can be increased in drinking too much alcohol. DASH diets limit is to the men to two or fewer drinks in a day and the limitation to the women is one or less in a day.
