In the film industry babies can only be used for minutes at a time when filming. This means that if there is to be a lot of filming then more than one child needs to be on set (as well as a carer) and these child also need to be paid for their time. The cost can be quite large depending on the filming.

Using reborn baby dolls to take the place of real babies would keep filming going, cut back on the people on the set and be cheaper for the production. A reborn artist would be able to make more than one doll with the same features but different expressions to take the place of a real baby.

A reborn doll feels and looks so much like a real bay that there is no problem for an actor to substitute one for the other. By having a weighted doll to hold an actors instinct is to hold it as a real baby. Reborn dolls are always held like real babies, this may be some instinctual feature in us humans that cares for what we feel to be a baby. It doesn't really matter in this case except to make it easier for an actor to play the part of holding a baby in his/her arms and making it believable.

Reborn baby dolls can also be made in many forms and preemie baby reborn are some of the most sort after and collected. Using a real preemie baby is dangerous for the child as its environment must be very controlled until it is old enough and strong enough to be able to with stand the outside world.

Using a reborn doll in place of real preemie babies opens up the scope for film and television makers to include in scripts the possibility of inclusion of the tiniest members of our society.

Reborn doll artists have always been exceptionally creative and cannot help but experiment with their molds and applications. We are seeing more and more fantasy reborn dolls being produced which again are perfect for the film industry.

Elf reborn dolls, vampire reborn babies, the list is as endless as a writers vision for a baby.

There is the purist reborn doll artists that may not like to see their art form turned into Dracula's child or some baby gremlin but for other reborn artists it is a challenge they would love to have.
