Wet basements can happen a lot. Many people go through it every year and they have to deal with the damages as well. It can be caused by busted pipes, humidity, appliances, leaky pipes, floods, and more. You have to watch your appliances and your pipes because they can overflow, crack, hoses can come off, and they can cause moisture. When moisture gets in the air it will appear on every surface causing them to become damp, wet, and water can run down the surfaces. When water runs down the surfaces it is because there is too much moisture building up.

You can also feel when moisture is in the room because it makes you feel damp and sticky. When wetness gets in the air and on surfaces it causes water damage and mold to occur and it can get really bad. Your home can become warped, have rotting, draw insects, become uneven, and it can lower the value of your house. It can damage wood, drywall, carpeting, and even furniture. Paint can peel, bubble, and wallpaper can come loose and fall down. When these problems occur, it means that you have water damage and you need to get it take care of right away.

Did you know that mold can grow inside of the appliances when they leak? This can happen if the wetness gets in them, it can also do a lot more to them besides grow mold. If wetness is caused by the appliances in a basement, you will need to find out where the problem is coming from and fix it. You can put a dehumidifier or exhaust fan in the basement area so stop moisture from effecting the room. Either one will keep it dry and it will protect your your home and your belongings from getting damaged or ruined. To make sure water is not coming out of the pipes you need to keep an eye on them. You also must make sure that water is not coming in through the foundation when it rains or snows.
