Real Men Wear Automatic Watches

Real Men Wear Automatic Watches

By:

In the early 20th century automatic watches were a great advance in the watch industry. There weren't watch batteries or small electric motors that would fit in a wristwatch. Wrist watches used a mechanical winding mechanism and springs to power the watches. If you failed to wind your watch you would find your self to be late for all of your appointments the next day. Today, we have microscopic circuits and quartz that will run a watch for years with a tiny battery. So, why would anyone want an archaic automatic watch?

For the same reason that not everyone wants to drive a Honda Civic. The Civic is a great car. It's efficient, inexpensive, and reliable. Why doesn't everyone want one then? The car just doesn't appeal to everyone. Some people want bigger cars, some want faster, some want flashier cars. In the world of watches anyone can go to the dollar store and get a cheap watch that will keep very accurate time and run for several years. But where is the fun in that?

For men a watch is one of the few pieces of jewelry we wear. Get one that fits your personality. People will notice your watch and a plastic band is not becoming. A handcrafted, Swiss automatic watch is like wearing a piece of fine art with a long and storied past. There are over 130 small, individually crafted pieces that go into these watches. The technology is over 100 years old. There is also no waste with an automatic watch either. It's powered by the movements of your arm. There are no batteries to replace and throw away. If you are a dollar store shopping kind of guy, get a dollar store watch. If you appreciate the finer things, find a good Swiss automatic watch.

The Swiss make the best automatic watches. If you look around I'm sure you will find one that fits your personality. The Aquaracer by TAG Heuer is my favorite. They have a storied history with the sports world. The accuracy of their time pieces often led to them providing events such as the Olympics and international racing events with their time keeping devices.

This history has made them keen to the needs of athletes and they have bundled watch packages that not only look spectacular but can stand up to the rigors that an athlete will subject them to. The Aquaracer was designed to appeal to divers. I find that the features incorporated into the watches are very useful for the rest of us.
