Raise Credit Score

By:

If you are in the process of repairing your credit report then you know how important your credit score is. This three digit number can determine your lifestyle more than by how much money you earn.

With a poor credit score you may have been turned away from a job that you are clearly qualified for. You may have been turned down for a credit card or a car loan. The times you have gotten approved it is with a high down payment and an exorbitant interest rate.

However if you can learn how the credit system works then you can use it to your benefit. You can create a higher quality of life for yourself and your family without earning any extra income.

When the credit bureaus calculate your credit score they use an algorithm. They plug in your information including payment history, types of accounts, balances, ect., and then a computer calculates your credit score.

Your credit score is a measuring stick that lenders and employers will judge you upon. When you apply for credit most lenders will look at nothing more than this three digit number.

How can you use the credit system to your benefit? You need to know there are two pieces of information that are most important to the systems equation.

1. Erase negative listings. Negative listings are going to bring your score way down and need to be erased as soon as possible.

2. Keep an unsecured revolving line of credit. This can be done by almost anyone.

The actual credit bureaus algorithms are protected and not released to the public. However upon review of thousands of credit files it has been found that having an open account is almost as important as removing negative credit items.

The reason an unsecured revolving line of credit helps your credit score is because:

1. Every time you pay your bill you are creating positive payment history. Just so you know the credit bureaus like this account to be aged or open for some time.

2. Helps your ratio of debt to available credit. This means the more credit you have that is not being used you score will be higher.

The credit line will help your score the most if it is unsecured. However depending upon where your credit score is you may need to get a secured credit card which guarantees approval for everyone.

A credit line will help build credit however it is most important to remove bad credit items. If you are unable to get approval for new credit immediately and don't want a secured credit line then remove bad credit and then reapply.

You can achieve a 700 credit score, no matter how bad your credit is today. Work on removing the negative listings and replacing those with positive listings.
