Radio Broadcasters Show Some Love For Brooks & Dunn

Early this year, Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc. has announced their selection of a duo that has consistently served up new country songs year after year. The legendary country duo Brooks & Dunn was chosen as this years CRB Career Achievement Award winners, along with the announcement of Charlie Cook as the CRB Presidents Award winner for this year. In an event which will serve as the unofficial kick-off to the annual Country Radio Seminar, the awardees will be feted during the Country Music DJ and Radio Hall of Fame Dinner and Awards Ceremony, which will be held on Feb. 23, 2010, at the Renaissance Ballroom in Nashville.

Charting off a successful path which began in 1991 when they released their single Brand New Man, Brooks & Dunn has has sold out tours, continuously creating new country songs year after year and releasing chart-topping singles for the next 20 years including Only in America, My Next Broken Heart, Neon Moon, Aint Nothing Bout You, Husbands and Wives, and Red Dirt Road. Throughout their stellar career, Brooks & Dunn has been cited as one of the most successful country duos of all time. Thus, when they announced their plans to retire last year, many fans were saddened by the news.

In their website, they released a statement saying that, "After 20 years of making music and riding this trail together, we have agreed as a duo that it's time call it a day," effectively making this decision one of the biggest news in 2009. In a bid to dispel negative rumors, they also added, "This ride has been everything and more than we could ever have dreamed ... We owe it all to you, the fans," they stated in their post. "If you hear rumors, don't believe them, it's just time." The duo also shared their plans to release their new country songs in their final album entitled #1'sAnd Then Some, which dropped in stores September of last year. In addition, the duo also announced their farewell tour, dubbed The Last Rodeo Tour, as their last offering for their fans, in which they will be singing their old hits as well as some new country songs they have recorded.

According to CRB President Becky Brenner, they chose Brooks & Dunn because the duo has spent the last 20 years giving Country fans and Country radio amazing music and incredible live shows She adds, They have been terrific ambassadors for Country music worldwide. We thank them for allowing us to present this Career Achievement Award during the year of their Last Rodeo.

The CRB Career Achievement Award, which is presented to an individual artist or act that has made a significant contribution to the development and promotion of Country music and Country radio through their creativity, vision, performance or leadership is a perfect tribute to cap off Brooks & Dunns successful musical career, underscoring their achievements in making new country songs year after year, and closing off their career with a clear distinction from fans and critics alike.
