R Madhavan - Bollywood Actor

R Madhavan was born as Madhavan Ranganathan on June 1, 1970 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India in a Tamil-speaking family. He was born to Ranganathan and his wife Saroja. Madhavan has a sister named Devika. The actor, who has a degree in electronics, was selected to represent India as a cultural ambassador in Canada in 1988.

Later, he won the Maharashtra Best Cadet Award and traveled to England with three other NCC cadets. He was trained with Royal Army, Navy, and the Air Force. However, he did not meet the age criteria required to join them. Madhavan then attended a public speaking course.

He represented India in 1992 at the Young Businessman Conference in Tokyo, Japan after winning the Indian Championship for Public Speaking. He also went on to teach communication and public speaking at workshops around India.

Madhavan was first seen playing Abhilash Verma in a TV serial titled Badalte Rishte (1996). He also appeared in Banegi Apni Baat, Sea Hawks, Ghar Jamai and Saaya. He was seen playing host on a game show, which was Sonys, Deal Ya No Deal (2005-2006). Presently, R Madhavan is hosting NDTV Imagines Big Money.

Madhavan was first seen in Fred Olen Rays INFERNO (1997). Deepti Bhatnagar and Madhavan were two Indian actors, who were seen in minor roles in the movie. Madhavan played the role of an Indian Officer in the movie. The film is said to have done average business.

In 1999, he landed up getting a role in a Kannad movie, Shanti Shanti Shanti (1999). The actor played Siddhartha in the movie. The movie was dubbed in Tamil and titled RELAX (2000) after his hit movie, Alaipayuthey (2000).

R.Madhavan will be seen in TANU WEDS MANU (release date not announced), JHOOTA HI SAHI (release date not announced), and SUNGLASS (release date not announced). In September, 2007, Madhavan launched his production house named Leukos Films.

The only movie released under the banner was Evano Oruvan (2007). Despite having a below average opening the film became an average grosser due to glowing reviews and positive word of mouth. Madhavan is married to Sarita, who is an actress. The two tied the knot in 1999.

The couple is blessed with a son named, Vedant. Though Madhavan has constantly confirmed his love for his wife, he has been linked up with his GURU (2007) co-star, Vidya Balan. The kiss between Madhavan-Vidya in the movie was Madhavans first on-screen kiss. The actors are always praised for their chemistry together.
