Quick And Easy Tips On Designing Wine Labels

By:

Whether you are making your own wines in your own home cellar or you just want to re-label a case of wines as wedding or party giveaways, you would certainly want to learn how to make and design an attractive and elegant wine label. But designing wine labels should not be taken for granted. Often, the only way people can judge the quality of the wine is through its label.

For this reason, it is important that you take much consideration in the design and printing of the labels for your wine or wine collection. If you are an enthusiast, label designs and printing would be a nice addition to your hobby. If you are making your own wine, only a unique design can separate your wines from the more common and commercial ones that people get to see in a wine store or even the supermarket. To distinguish your own from the rest, a good label is where it will all begin.

The same goes if you are just planning to hand out some bottles of wines during an event or celebration. This is more common during wedding receptions. Some people, instead of just giving away a branded wine, they would buy generic-looking bottles of wines and then design and print their own wine labels. Their labels would of course contain their names, the event, and the date. Other information can be added as desired.

So how do you go about with designing wine labels? Here are a few suggestions that you may want to give a try.

Look for an inspiration.

An inspiration can be anything. It can be the label of a more popular wine. It can also be an artwork that you truly admire. It can be the cover of a book which you may find elegant and worth imitating. Do not think that you are copying the ideas the others. Remember, what you are merely doing is just looking for an inspiration so you can get started with your own designs. Even world-renowned artists always look for an inspiration before they even begin with their own masterpieces.

Select an elegant font style.

Actually, it does not have to be elegant. It can depend on your own personality or of the motif or general design that you have in mind. For example, if you want a wackier and freer design, then you can use fonts that are fun and lively to read. But if you want a more traditional and sophisticated look, go for fonts that have those stylish cursive lines.

Put only the needed information on the label.

Aside from making your font size easy to read, you must remember not to put too much clutter on your label. Remove any unnecessary elements and just focus on the text. In the same line of thought, do not put too many words. Just write a small description of the wine (or of the event), what type of wine it is, and maybe include where you got the wine.

Ask help from the experts.

After a dozen of revisions and you think you are still not satisfied with your designs, perhaps it is time to contact the experts. There are printing companies who are also specializing on designing wine labels.
