Now, we all know the benefits of inbound links for top search engine rankings. Unfortunately, obtaining inbound links can be very time consuming and/or expensive and on top of that it can take months and even years to get high rankings for very competitive keywords.
However, to be able to make some cash on the internet you don't necessarily have to rank for very competitive one-word or two-word keyword phrases. It is true, those kinds of keywords usually generate massive amounts of traffic - once you rank for them - but on the other hand, they don't convert very well into sales.
That's why I choose to focus on long-tail keywords with low competition and good buyer intent. Those keywords don't drive that much traffic, but they often show fantastic conversion rates and most of them are quite easy to rank for.
Wanting to rank for a highly competitive term like "SEO" will probably take you years and plenty of hard work. However, if you target a keyword with low competition, such as "
Go Click Cash" you should be able to get into Google's top 10 within a few weeks.
The more words your keyword phrase contains, the quicker and easier it will be to rank for. So, if you choose a keyword like: "
Go Click Cash Bonus Pack" it could even occur that you get a top 10 ranking within one week.
If you want to rank for highly competitive keywords, you need a lot of high-quality inbound links. When I try to rank for long-tail keywords I usually only concentrate on quick and easy backlinks, so-called low quality backlinks.
Here are the 3 link types I use for all of my long-tail keywords:
* Article submission with one or two backlinks in the body text or resource box.
* Backlinks from the top 15-20 social bookmarking sites.
* Forum profile backlinks from 40-50 forums that are related to my niche.
The big benefit of those link types is that they are very quick and easy to create. And the link building process for all those links can be completely automated using various software tools.
Now, these so-called low quality backlinks would hardly ever allow you to rank for highly competitive terms, but they generally work quite well for long-tail keywords with low competition.
