Questioning Why The Fda Is So Opposed To Electronic Cigarettes

Well, it is still going on it seems. The FDA, an organization called ASH and some other health organizations are still doing their dead level best to ban e cigarettes from being sold in the United States. As long as it is still perfectly legal for people to kill themselves at the rate of 400,000 per year smoking and chewing tobacco, why in the world do they want to prevent people from using e cigarettes which thus far do not seem to pose the same dangerous health risks? While admittedly, electronic cigarettes are not without some risks themselves, are they less hazardous to use than smoking tobacco? This is the question that so many tobacco smokers want a straight answer to. The FDA continue to give reasons that you should not use e cigarettes, but can they honestly say that they are not better to use than smoking tobacco?

Evidently the FDA must think that e cigarette users are stupid because they continue to tout the same reasons why electronic cigarettes should not be allowed to be used by grown up and consenting adults. They tested a few brands a found a very small quantity of diethylene glycol, a substance found in antifreeze and nitrosamines, a carcinogen found in tobacco cigarettes. The question is how much of these substances were present and why were not all of the e cigarette brands tested just to be fair to all of them? Not all e cigarettes are created equal and some are made with much better standards than others just like many other products.

The point of the entire e cigarette phenomenon is whether or not they are as harmful as smoking tobacco. The FDA and others continue to talk about how the electronic cigarette is not a viable smoking cessation device. Who said it was supposed to be? Electronic cigarettes are meant to be an ALTERNATIVE for tobacco smokers, not a way to quit. They simply offer a way to continue to feel like the user is smoking, only with far less harmful attributes than smoking tobacco. Why do they continue to try to insinuate that e cigarette distributors are claiming that their product is perfect? There is nicotine in e cigarette filters, that is why people want to use them. For people that smoke tobacco, they already know that nicotine is addictive, but they believe that it is less harmful to them when it is removed from the thousands of other deadly chemicals found in tobacco. Yes, there are substances in e cigarettes like propylene glycol, which the FDA has approved for use in other products, so why do they think it is bad in e cigarettes?

The FDA and others are also doing their best to claim that electronic cigarettes pose a risk to children because they will be tempted to use them also. Well, tobacco has been the number one cause the world over of children beginning to smoke in the first place. Would it not be wise to find a way to ban tobacco first since it is the culprit of all smokers starting in the first place? There has to be other underlying reasons why this product is opposed so vehemently. No one claims that it is a perfect solution for tobacco smokers. It is only a different way to get nicotine and if an adult can legally smoke tobacco, why shouldn't they be allowed to legally use an e cigarette if they choose to? It is like the FDA is saying that smokers can continue to use the deadliest thing to smoke, tobacco, but not use an electronic cigarette which might seriously pose fewer health risks.
