Question About Losing Weight - Should You Try A Liquid Diet Plan?

By:

One of the more common trends that you see in the health and fitness industry is that people want to get the fastest results possible, the easiest way that they can. Because of this, things like liquid diets usually get looked at as possibly being a viable option for help in the losing of excess weight. That may lead you to wonder about this and ask the question, is a liquid diet a good idea to get rid of unwanted body fat?

For most people, the answer to this question is going to be no, it is not. While the temptation may be there to try a liquid diet plan, the truth is that most people cannot sustain this kind of plan for more than a few days or a week at best. So, the chance that you are really going to lose a lot of weight just is not really there at all. What also happens to most people that try out a liquid diet is, they end up over indulging when they go off of it.

So, any weight loss that does occur, gets taken away and they put the weight right back on. There are many instances of people losing a few pounds from a liquid diet plan, only to find that when they went off of it and went back to solid, they gain the weight they lost and then some. They end up being a little fatter than when they started out.

Not only that, most people will also experience some muscle loss when they are downing nothing but liquid. Chances are, you are not going to be getting nearly enough protein and the body fights against that by finding a way to get the amino acids that it does need... which occurs by breaking down muscle mass.

And, when you lose muscle mass, your metabolism gets a little slower. So, you really are stacking the deck against yourself if you choose to adopt a weight loss regimen that incorporates nothing but liquids. If you are tempted because of the promise of quick results, remember that these results will come at a cost and that cost can be the loss of muscle tissue, a slower metabolism, and ultimately gaining the weight you lost back and then some.

Liquid diet plans will probably always be out there and always marketed towards those that want the quickest results possible without having to do a lot of work, but there is still a price that gets paid and many times, that price just is not worth it at all.
