Queenstown: A Great Family Holiday Destination

Queenstown: A Great Family Holiday Destination

By:

On our recent New Zealand holiday we stayed in Queenstown accommodation on the South Island. This is a chic mountain and lakeside resort town with a stylish shopping centre filled with great accommodation, wonderful restaurants and sensational shopping. Queenstown has a superb village atmosphere and is a draw card for tourists, New Zealands hoi polloi, skiers, adventure seekers and holidaymakers. There is a host of accommodation options to choose from. Queenstown is located in the south of the South Island and is the headquarters for the local skiing industry. Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Cardrona are all close by and a slightly longer drive will take you to Treble Cone. These ski resorts represent the best slopes and facilities in southern New Zealand. This is an ideal destination for your next holiday. I took my family and we decided on self catering apartment accommodation to help with the budget and we were delighted with the result. We booked our holiday on www.aunztravel.com.au. There is a massive range of accommodation on the site to choose from. Self contained bungalows, hotel accommodation, apartments or one of the many sensational new resorts which were all part of the offering. The quality is excellent. Getting there was really easy as there is a domestic and international airport right in Queenstown and most resorts offer airport pickups. We found the staff at Australian Travel Wholesalers to be super helpful when we had questions to answer. Anyway, back to the accommodation in a moment.

Queenstown is also known as the adventure capital of the world. There are numerous ways to frighten yourself to death in spectacular surroundings. Here you can jump from a bridge or a cable car suspended only by a thin piece of elastic fastened to your ankles. Take an ulralight flight or parachute into one of the worlds most spectacular landscapes. Sail aboard an Americas cup yacht on beautiful Lake Wakatipu or charge through a shallow river gorge aboard a speeding jet boat. Queenstown abounds with cosy fireside restaurants and cafes. The town centre is always alive with great activities and places to go. Real Journeys is a major local tour company that will send you on some awe inspiring tours. Milford Sound is a must as the coach travels through middle earth from the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. A day trip aboard the steamship Earnslaw is a must. Take the dinner cruise to Walter Peak station for a fabulous night out.

Anyway, back to the accommodation. We stayed in the Breakfree Alpine Village resort Apartments which overlooks the majesty of Lake Wakatipu as well as having commanding views of the surrounding mountain ranges. It was situated right on the lakefront and you could go salmon or trout fishing from your door. I would recommend this to anyone. Queenstown was a great family holiday destination and we enjoyed it immensely. There was so much accommodation on the website to choose from we sent the operators an email and one of their staff helped us to decide which style to choose. I would certainly recommend you to do the same.
