Protecting Your Pet Cats when Moving House

Feline animals are creatures of familiarity. You pet kitty doesnt warm up to strangers and could go wild in new strange surrounding. Moving house can be an exciting moment for you and your family members, but unless you prepare for it, those moments can be the most traumatic for your cat.

Isolate your Kitty from the Commotion

It is not surprising if your cat starts to wonder around farther from your home when moving house. They may find their familiar surroundings suddenly strange and decide to look for its old abode. In addition, once you reach the new house and release your kitty, make sure your cat is wearing one. Cats are known to go missing to look for their old homes and cat collars with ID data can bring you peace mind that your cat can be returned to you when found.

Familiarizing to the New House

Once your reach your new home, take the time to familiarize your cat to its new surroundings. You may not have the time to do that right away, so its a good idea to let your cat stay in its cat carriers until such time you are settled in your home. Your old furniture and appliance in new locations can be a familiar sight but the overwhelming strange smell and sight of a new house can still distress your kitty. It is at this time that you need to be around with your pet to assure a familiar presence of its master and as if youre starting over with new house training.
