Properly Maintaining Your Cigar Humidor

When you invest in your cigar humidor, you will most definitely want to make sure you take care of it properly. After all, your humidor is an investment in of itself. Additionally, how you maintain the box will have a direct effect on how your cigars age. You do not want to ruin those flavorful smokes, do you? This means you need to take proper care of your humidor, and you need to clean it in the right method.

One question that many people ask is whether or not the inside of the humidor needs to be wiped down on a regular basis. This is a very good question. Should you wipe down the cedar lining? The answer is yes. However, there are some rules to it. In order for your humidor to maintain the proper humidity, it needs to stay slightly damp. Of course, that is the whole purpose of the device, and it will do so quite well on its own. However, the cedar lining on the inside can slowly get a little dry. Additionally, it could become slightly soiled as you place and remove cigars from it.

One thing that you will be concerned with is keeping that cigar humidor clean. Does it need to be wiped down? Do you need to wipe out the inside cedar lining in order to keep your humidor working properly? This is a good question. Your humidor is designed to provide the right humidity to your cigars, and that means the inside lining should stay damp. In order to keep it damp, you do need to occasionally wipe it down with a damp cloth.

You will need to wipe down the humidor from time to time. You will also need to wipe it down in the right way. You should use distilled water. This is because distilled water is the purest available. You can avoid any of the chemicals and minerals in tap water damaging the cedar lining. In addition, you should choose a lint free cloth because you do not want to leave lint or particles within the humidor. Then, just get the cloth damp, but not soaked, and carefully wipe the inside of the humidor down. You should do this on a regular schedule like every other month or every few months.

In order to completely enjoy your cigars and your new hobby, you will need to choose the right cigar accessories and then maintain them in the proper way. In order to keep your humidor clean, you will need to wipe down the inside of it from time to time.
