Profits Jazz Up The Local Honda Dealerships

By:

The car market like the rest of the world has hit a slump in the current economic crisis, but like every story there is a silver lining to this cloud. Honda has decided to take the extraordinary decision at this time to move production of its Honda Jazz from Japan to the UK at the plant in Swindon, a decision which has boosted sales at some Honda dealerships in the UK.

The decision was taken to move the plant to the Swindon branch, which will be a big boost to the UK economy and in particular the Swindon workforce, who will no doubt have been perspiring profusely over the current financial downturn with the threat of recession hanging over their heads.

Honda has been proactive rather than reactive throughout the economic downturn and initiated a number of schemes to safeguard the jobs of its members of staff at all its branches. Members of the UK workforce were asked to take four months holiday and were paid basic wage for the first two months before receiving 60% of their basic wage for the next two.

When first announced shockwaves were felt through the entire structure of the UK Honda dealerships with many people concerned that the short, planned holiday would lead to a more permanent holiday in the form of recession.

Other initiatives have been more sales based, with the Honda dealerships around the UK instructed to push the new government based scrappage scheme to help bolster flagging sales. Again this seems to be working with one of the Honda dealerships in Swindon claiming that they had sold sixty of the Honda Jazz's alone.

With these incredible figures being repeated around the country it is no wonder that amongst all the doom and gloom, Honda have managed to release figures of a profit, albeit a small one compared to their normal quarterly figures. However, any profit should be considered good considering that their Japanese rivals Toyota and Nissan have both posted figures in the red.

Apparently 25% of the Honda Jazz's manufactured at the Swindon branch will be exported to countries in Europe, while the remaining 75% will stay in the UK to be distributed to Honda dealerships around the British Isles.

Everyone seems delighted to read any positive stories in the current recession and the Honda branch at Swindon has certainly been a ray of light to other car dealerships hoping that the economy recovers quickly and people start to flood through the doors with money to spend.
